Generations of Florida’s most avid boaters have called Coral Reef Yacht Club home, creating enduring friendships and generating memories to last a lifetime. Everyone enjoys the community's atmosphere of ease, the sense of being among friends in the place where they truly belong.

About Our Club

Our beautiful clubhouse was purchased by our first Board of Directors from the George Engle estate in 1955. Steeped in history and tradition, Coral Reef Yacht Club has grown to be known as a premier yachting center.  For over fifty years, sailors from all over the world have entered through our stately royal palmed driveway to participate in some of the best competitions in the world of yacht racing.
The general nature and object of our Club was and still is to associate together residents of the Greater Miami area and other persons having a common interest in boating; to provide boating and social facilities for our Members and their guests; to promote good boating practices; to bring to light the advantages of this area as a yachting center and to promote regattas and other types of marine competition.
Centrally located in Coconut Grove on Biscayne Bay, one of the world’s great water sports playgrounds, with direct access to the Gulf Stream, ICW, Florida Keys and the Bahamas, the Club offers rich tradition, with exceptional facilities and service. We are known worldwide for warm hospitality, relaxed atmosphere and as host to some of yachting’s most prestigious regattas.
Our vibrant community of yachtsmen enjoys sailing, fishing, cruising and diving with like minded spirits. But, after a day on the water, they can float serenely in our heated pool, catch up with friends at the popular Reef Bar on the patio, and then move inside the Club to mellow out in the Yardarm Bar while they anticipate a fine dining experience with no coat and tie requirement.

Coral Reef Yacht Club welcomes yachtsmen and provides the backdrop for a very special place where Members come to enjoy themselves.  We welcome you to discover the congenial social environment, the best dining, and year round exciting activities at one of the area’s finest clubs.

Racing and Regattas

Racing is our DNA. Coral Reef Yacht Club has grown to be known as a premier yachting center. Our Race Committee is second to none. For over fifty years, sailors from all over the world have entered through our stately royal palmed driveway to participate in some of the best competitions in the world of yacht racing.

Over the years, many great regattas have been hosted by our Club, including the 2008 and 2016 Star Worlds, Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta, Bacardi Cup and Bacardi Miami Race Week, Lightning Midwinters, Etchells Coral Reef Cup, and the World Sailing Olympic Classes Regatta. We are excited to be the host of the Etchells World Championship in 2023.  Not only do we host great regattas, CRYC has Members who are great sailors including two Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year, World Champions, US Singlehanded Youth Sailing Championship for Women for the Leiter Cup and the US Rep for Snipes in the Pan Am Games. CRYC is also a participant in Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Association and the Columbus Day Regatta.

Cruising

Our cruising activities offer something for every taste. Whether you prefer visits to high end yachting destinations or casual raft-ups and water sports in Biscayne Bay, we have you covered. Everyone is invited. Come join your friends for relaxed, fun filled water activities.

We also enjoy sharing our cruising experiences. One Member is on his sixth circumnavigation of the world. Others have cruised as far south as the Caribbean and as far north as Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Many know the waters of the Bahamas as well as the back of their own hands. Coral Reefers love to cruise.

Fishing

CRYC has many Members who love to fish. Some do it for relaxation and others are avid competitors. In the spring, the Club hosts a Marlin Tournament with as many as 22 boats participating…good news for the Coral Reefers but bad news for the Marlin!

For the Kids

CRYC is a family Club. The pool is often full of kids swimming and the lawn is a friendly field for play. There are fishing tournaments on the docks for the little ones. The holiday events include egg hunts on Easter, a Halloween costume parade down the docks and a visit with Santa. Movie Night for Kids is very popular too.

Our Youth Sailing Program is among the best in nation. During the summer we are the “hot spot” for summer camps, offering a variety of activities.  Our youth sailors have gone on to become College Sailors of the Year and World Champions, and our current youth racing team has made us proud, winning competitions everywhere they go.
